IF IT WASN'T EASY...

Hi I'm Shannon! I'm 21 years old and recently graduated from college and moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida where I live with my boyfriend right on the beach. I'm working on maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle while getting leaner, fitter, and stronger by lifting heavy weights and eating mostly high-protein, lower-carb and averaging 2500-3000 calories per day. 5'8, 142 lbs, 38-25-28, size 2-4. (I’m almost positive I stole that title, I just don’t remember where)

9 am: Woke up, made a mango protein smoothie, and headed down to the pool to read/tan for 2 hours.

Brief moment of smugness that I’m not in Maryland right now—it’s about 100 degrees there and there are power outages across the whole state. Tell me again how summers in Florida are too hot?

11 am: Cleaned the apartment and put away last night’s laundry. Friday nights are my officially avorite time to do laundry because I have the machines all to myself. And I have no life. No seriously though, going out on the weekends becomes less important when you’re not on a 9-5 schedule and there’s something going on every night of the week.

12 am: Drove to the mall to put together my uniform for Aruba. They gave me a black t-shirt and I needed to get khaki pants or shorts no shorter than my knees, a black belt, and black shoes. Um, you know what’s the only item in the world less flattering than khaki pants? Knee-length khaki shorts. I had really, really low expectations. BUT I managed to find a pair of knee-length shorts that were actually cute (I think they’re technically capris that fit like shorts on me because I’m tall) for only $16.99 at TJ Maxx. Plus a black belt and slip-on black Skechers. So I think I managed to make the best out of a challenging dress code:

4pm: Headed to the gym for a lower body workout:

  • 45 degree leg press—230 lbs added: 8 reps x 3 sets , 280 lbs: 8x3
  • Squats—115 lbs: 8x3, 120 lbs: 8x3
  • Straight-leg deadlifts—80 lbs: 8x3, 90 lbs: 8x3
  • Lying leg press—150 lbs: 8x2, 160 lbs: 8x2

I brought shower stuff and a change of clothes to the gym so I could shower there and go straight to work. That was really convenient and I’m going to start doing that more often.

6pm - 2am: Working at the Kava Tea Bar. I’m there right now. 30 minutes left to go…

Note: sorry about all the photo booth, I recently remembered that it existed and now I’m kinda obsessed with it. This picture took accidentally but it turned out to be my favorite of the lot.

I start training at Aruba at 8:30 am tomorrow. I already have my uniform sitting out like a little kid on the first day of school. I’m really excited because I haven’t worked in a restaurant since high school and I was too young to officially wait tables then, and I think it will be a good opportunity to meet girls my age, and everyone keeps telling me it’s a big money job. So going to go start the side work so I can get out of here right at 2!
