Wrong. Even setting aside the fact that “fat” and “junk food” are subjective terms, this statement is simply untrue. You will gain weight if you eat more than your caloric needs, period. You can “get fat” eating vegan, low-carb, Paleo, organic, nothing but fruits and vegetables. You can get skinny eating nothing but twinkies.
Granted, it’s easier to gain weight when your diet consists primarily of calorie-dense, nutritionally-devoid foods. But incorporating some treats into your diet won’t suddenly make you blow up like a balloon. It’s less about the individual foods you eat and more about how they fit into your diet as a whole.
